old timers brass band
Is a dapper old guy who packs a whole lotta swagger. He's loved by everyone and a real class act. Uncle Lonnie takes pride in his music and his appearance, always dressing to the nines. He plays the Bass Drum and moves like butter when leading parades through the streets of Tremé.
Uncle Lonnie is the personification of cool.... Period.
Is the Clarinet player and by default, the unofficial "leader" of the band. Mister B was so good that in his late teens he traveled the world playing with the jazz icons of his time and therefore developed a bigger view of the world. His stories about those far away places spark Shorty's imagination and fuels his curiosity of the world outside Tremé.
Like Mister B, Shorty too will see the world is bigger than Tremé but at the end of the day, this little corner of the world will always be home.
Plays the trumpet in the band. Music runs through his blood. He comes from a long line of great musicians who played with the likes of Jelly Roll Morton and Buddy Bolden. Pops is a sixth generation New Orleanian and makes sure everyone around him doesn't forget it.
He knows the legacy... He lives the legacy.
It's because of Pops that Shorty also learns how to play the trumpet.
